My name is Gulmira Amangalieva. I’m a researcher studying the intersection of journalism, digital media, and health communication. I examine how news and public information function on social media platforms, with a focus on credibility, opinion leadership, and the evolving role of journalistic expertise in online spaces.
I enjoy teaching journalism courses, as it allows me to blend my passion for storytelling with the opportunity to mentor and inspire the next generation of journalists.
Before entering academia, I worked for a decade as a reporter covering critical issues such as social injustice, poverty, and human rights violations. My journalism career has been enriched by prestigious fellowships, including the Reuters Institute Journalism Fellowship at the University of Oxford and Fulbright Program.
